I met some of the best people I've ever known through working at Disney and I miss them every single day. I started to hate it, but now that I've been away for awhile I miss it. I worked on Main Street almost every night so I got to see the parades and the fireworks every night. I miss just being able to drop in whenever I wanted - and going in sandals because you knew you wouldn't be there for very long so your feet would be fine! I missed Very Merry way more than I ever thought I would. The fact that you're there all the time is pretty awesome if you care about the parks at all (some people don't.) I worked there for a year so I got to participate in all kinds of events and I really miss that now. Getting into the parks for free, discounts on hotel room stays, etc. The fact that I can go to my boss now and say, 'Hey, I have a doctor's appointment and so I'll be coming in an hour late' is still a miracle to me and I've never really gotten over it.

I've heard other equally as horrible stories. My sister was graduating from high school and they wouldn't give me the time off despite asking six months in advance. The hours are bad, even if you're full-time, scheduling won't work with you.

Sorry kids, take it from someone who learned the hard way - it doesn't work like that. Everyone with a brand new Communications, Marketing, or PR degree walks into their college program with hopes of 'starting their career' with the company by sweeping the bathrooms in Epcot.

If you have any hope of 'making a career with the company' (most overused phrase in the world) you better have a lot of money and patience saved up because it's going to take you many, many years of low wages and horrible hours. less magical when you're seeing them every single day and your feet, back, and knees are in excruciating pain because you can't afford anything better than $10 Walmart shoes that have fallen apart within a day. You think, 'It'll be so fun, we can go to the parks all the time!' But you don't.

Everyone there is poor and it's depressing as hell. I only lasted another six months because I had an extensive savings account. I was on my CP for six months and then moved into an apartment and was now paying utilities, cable, rent, student loans which had kicked in after my 6-month grace period, etc.
